It was summer of 2019 when you get to attend all these carshows where lots of people take pride of their rides and enter it in hopes to gain recognition, win a trophy for bragging rights or just simply network to gain more friends and knowledge. These are the times when “Big” carshows take on the road across the nation from coast to coast. There are a lot of big names carshows out there from Hot Import Nights, WEKFest, Import Face Off and SEMA to name a few. These are not your typical carshows where a brand new car are being unveiled by a car manufacturer every year; but it’s a subculture of individuals showcasing their mods from cosmetic to the engine bay. Where enthusiast experiment with how much a standard car can take based on modifications. Some just go for looks to grab attention, but either way we all share the passion with our pride and joy.
There are lots of carshows that I had attended this year; but one show in particular that I think is really unique and not your typical big carshows that goes across the nation and they are UrbanCity Takeover Carshow. Their event is focused more locally here in Illinois and has a goal in mind to be recognized in the Midwest. The main person that are running this events are no other than husband and wife; Tony and Jojo Ciano. Tony is actually an actor on Chicago PD tv show playing as a Car Thief (I know right? It’s a perfect role for him who loves cars lol) and have acted on other short films. Both Tony and Jojo are the most down to Earth people that I’ve met and the atmosphere of all their shows are very friendly and fun in nature. Their family and the support are very strong on this one 🙂
What makes their carshows unique is that they do their best to have small local carshows and meetups more often than your typical carshow that throws an event once a year on each state. UrbanCity Takeover carshows on the otherhand puts out different themed carshows; from going to Autobahn for exclusive exotics and if you want your car to be tracked to test your skill, even a carshow right at the mall or out on a farm, and a mini-cannonball run that has checkpoints that you have to go to.
