So the pandemic has affected a lot of us and our business has slowed down. A lot of my bookings for this year has been cancelled unfortunately… and been going along as I sometimes would get an inquiry of a possible gig. I’m taking things day by day for now. Luckily I am still able to do some photography here and there so that my creativity won’t deteriorate.

So I did a “Re-wear the Wedding dress” session with Audrey and Mike as opposed to “Trash the Wedding Dress”. I originally wanted to do something with water but Audrey had a better idea to just re-wear the wedding dress before she puts em’ away for good. And it turned out that it was an awesome idea. It was as if she was wearing the dress for the first time when they did their wedding. It really brings that atmosphere back again.

So we started out in the house bedroom since they have a really nice house. I thought I’d like to have that photography studio feeling and setup some lights while using the window light. Here are the results of my shots.

So we have thought of a location and were thinking on going to some park on the outskirt of town that takes 8-10min drive. But due to time constraints since I had to be somewhere on the same day; we opted out to do it right in their new home, since they have a huge backyard (pretty much like a half a football field!!). The shoot was at high noon… and the sun was really beaming down on us. It’s not what you call a golden hour no way!!! Actually its the worst kind to do any photoshoot really… unless you are in a shade or your strobe/flash can overpower the sun to avoid the racoon eyes. We all don’t want that no no! lol

Fortunately with all my knowledge to strategically positioning them and placing my strobe on different angles/location, I was able to achieve shots like these. 🙂

As I scout around their huge backyard and doing my best to avoid the direct sunlight… I noticed a patch of area in far-end of the treeline where some bushes were blocking a region from plain sight. It was a far walk but out of my curiosity, I went on my own to see what that area was…. and ALASS!!!! There was a huge circle patched area surrounded with trees. It’s as if it was a secret garden waiting to be discovered. I flagged the married couple down despite the long walk and to their surprise… they too never knew that area existed despite that they owned the house for almost 1 year. The lighting was so perfect that it looks like a printed backdrop. It was so whimsical that it would be a perfect backdrop for newborns. So we did the shoot and I was loving it! Here are the results of that photoshoot! 🙂

I wanted to do more shoots with different poses and several more creative lighting, but I only had 30 min. left since I found this area at the last minute. Audrey was nice enough to offer me that if I ever wanted to do a shoot on that area, to just let her know. I totally bookmarked this location now for some future shoots. 🙂

Editing these photos were challenging to me since I had to fight the sunlight on a lot of the photos, but so worth it as I got closer to the set where I get to edit the secret garden part. 🙂 I have used a lot of new techniques over the course of the year. It was such a nice feeling to do some photography and go back into editing. I just hope that this pandemic goes away soon so that I can do more photoshoots and/or videoshoots like these.
